1. About Vela Yachts
Vela Yachts is a yacht charter brokerage operating at velayachts.uk. We act as an independent intermediary between clients and charter companies. We are not the owner or operator of any vessel. The charter contract is between the client and the charter company; Vela Yachts facilitates that relationship.
2. Our role as broker
Vela Yachts acts as agent on your behalf to identify suitable charter options, communicate with charter companies, and assist in arranging your booking. We are remunerated by commission paid by the charter company. This does not affect the price you pay.
While we take care to recommend reputable charter operators and accurately represent their vessels, we are not responsible for the condition of any vessel, the performance of the charter company, or events occurring during the charter period.
3. Enquiries and bookings
Submitting an enquiry through our website does not constitute a booking or create any contractual obligation on either party. A booking is only confirmed when:
- The charter company has confirmed availability in writing
- The client has signed the charter company's booking form or contract
- The required deposit has been received by the charter company
All booking terms, including deposit amounts, payment schedules, cancellation policies and security deposit requirements, are set by the individual charter company and will be clearly communicated before any commitment is made.
4. Pricing and payments
All prices quoted are in Euros (€) unless otherwise stated and are subject to availability at the time of enquiry. Quoted prices are for the charter of the vessel only and do not include fuel, marina fees, provisioning, skipper costs (where applicable), transit logs, end-cleaning fees or other local expenses unless explicitly stated.
Payments are made to Vela Yachts in accordance with the payment schedule set out in your booking confirmation. We collect and hold funds on behalf of the charter company and pass them on in accordance with the charter company's payment terms. Our commission is deducted at the point of onward payment to the charter company.
5. Cancellation
Cancellation terms are set by the individual charter company and will be provided to you in writing before you confirm a booking. We strongly recommend taking out appropriate travel and charter cancellation insurance. Vela Yachts is not liable for any losses arising from cancellation by either the client or the charter company.
6. Qualifications and licences
For bareboat charters, it is the client's responsibility to hold valid and appropriate sailing qualifications as required by the charter company and the relevant maritime authority of the charter destination. Vela Yachts will advise on typical requirements but cannot guarantee acceptance by any specific charter company. Misrepresentation of qualifications may result in cancellation without refund.
7. Accuracy of information
We make every effort to ensure that vessel descriptions, itinerary information, distances and destination details on this website are accurate and up to date. However, vessel specifications, availability and pricing can change, and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all information at all times. Itineraries shown on this website are sample routes for illustration only; actual routes are subject to weather, crew experience, local regulations and the discretion of the charter company or skipper.
8. Limitation of liability
Vela Yachts' liability to you in connection with any booking or enquiry is limited to the commission we received in respect of that booking. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential or special losses, including but not limited to loss of enjoyment, loss of earnings, or costs incurred as a result of a charter company's failure to perform.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
9. Website use
The content of this website is provided for information purposes only. You may not reproduce, copy or distribute any content from velayachts.uk without our prior written consent. We reserve the right to modify or withdraw the website or any part of it at any time.
10. Third party links and content
Our website may contain links to third party websites (including charter companies, flight information and mapping services). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices or accuracy of any third party website.
11. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
